Snow removal operations persisted into the evening, with Chris and George working to clear the driveway. My North Pole Village has been completely dismantled (it’s a month earlier than LAST year!!) and is ready for packing. Since I am doing Project 365, I will be able to chronicle the saga of village assembly in November :).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASH!
SO MUCH SNOW! Not quite as much as I was thinking, but more than I have ever seen. Our official measurements were right about 19 inches. As you can imagine, I took A TON of pictures, but here are some highlights. Chris and George did a lot of shoveling, and we ladies (and Aaron) ventured outside just for the experience. Aaron did not last, the snow was still coming down and it was windy!

side yard, no sledding there in these conditions!

looks like a blizzard to me!
shortly before he became fed up
Ashley lost her balance while shoveling the front steps!

By 4:30 yesterday, we were informed the school was ALREADY canceled for Friday! I don't remember our school system canceling so early before in anticipation of a bad storm, the snow was not even scheduled to START falling until noon Friday! It started falling pretty slowly, but by evening the "snowmageddon" had begun. Chris’ brother George was supposed to come down for a one night visit after being in Maryland for business, but he quickly learned that all flights were being canceled and was not able to get on one home to Colorado until Monday at 10pm!! He made it from Maryland to our house in record time (the house and I were not quite ready) before the snow had gotten heavy. He came bearing gifts, beautiful birthday/congratulations on getting your first job flowers for Ashley, some Valentines candy, and a highlight, the hatch and grow dinosaur for Aaron. Aaron monitored that thing all night, and there will be a picture of the new arrival when he makes his appearance. Tomorrow, Saturday, is Ashley’s 23rd birthday. We had planned to go out for a family style birthday dinner at Five Guys with Sarah and her family also, but the snow just became too much. Five Guys closed 4 hours early! We had Digiorno and the sundae bar Ash had requested. Chris shoveled about three inches of snow off the driveway tonight, and there is supposed to be much more to come!

Back to school again, after a snow! I realized that I could get a lot of new ideas for 365 pictures if I start taking them at different times of the day, so I brought the camera upstairs with me to get a shot of the cozy warm light of our room while we are getting reading for work.

People are Friends, NOT FOOD!
Here is the FINAL page for our Tahiti honeymoon book, which I am SO excited to have done because, as I said earlier, it is the first book I have ever finished for myself! (and...the honeymoon was in 2004....) I am so excited about this that I have decided to get ANOTHER book made at winkflash with all my scraps from the second half of 2009, which is really when I began getting going and joined the scrapmatters community. In order to do that, though, I need to scrap ALL OF CHRISTMAS, which includes our trip to California AND our first visit to California Adventure in time to turn it in to winkflash by 2/17....ambitious? YES, but we just had a LOT of snow! (more on that later...) I am going to go for it! I also am SO excited that one of my layouts was put into the gallery standouts for this week on ScrapMatters, the one I did yesterday called Motu Picnic. It is my first time being mentioned in the standouts and it has been a goal of mine!

Finishing up my Tahiti book...FINALLY
To take advantage of an amazing book printing sale at winkflash.com, I am going to get this book done, which means getting the photos scrapped that were not digital, that we found over the summer, if you were following that saga on the blog. Made this one for a scraplift challenge, and the second page for this week's template challenge at ScrapMatters.

February 3
SNOW DAY! This snow kind of crept up on me, we just read on the first that snow could be coming. Turns out we got between 2-3 inches of heavy wet snow! We sure have gotten a lot so far this winter, and reports are that 12 MORE inches could be on the way Saturday! The snow started last night and was done by this morning. I was VERY excited to get up at 4:50 this morning and see online that it was a snow day, even though I just met my new students yesterday, and this is not the best thing for establishing our new classes, you CAN'T BEAT A SNOW DAY!! We got to sleep in until 8:15, when Aaron started calling for his Daddy and sent me away when I went in his room instead. It was not particularly cold today, so we headed back outside to play in the snow some more and Aaron was able to stay outside and enjoy himself for a long time.
