November 24

It’s Thanksgiving Day! We are keeping it small and quiet this year because (as I have mentioned) I am hugely pregnant. Courtney is with us, but Ash is in Alabama, so we got a small turkey, eliminated some side dishes, and just kept it pretty casz.

Here is the rutabega master masher at work…

Our smaller turkey, which tasted awesome but could have used 30 fewer minutes in the oven.

Today I made my first attempt at fried chicken. Frying things scares the crap out of me because I’m always afraid it’s going to turn out too greasy or not cooked on the inside. I got a couple of tips, and have to say that for my first try, it wasn’t horrible!

September 22

I am SO tired and sore today from having such a long day yesterday. I wore sneakers to work, you just gotta do what you gotta do. Included in that is NOT cooking.

Iiiiiiit’s my birthday! That’s right, the big 33! We had a nice dinner at home tonight. Chris and the girls made Rachel Ray’s Chicken and Broccoli Pizza, a family favorite, and then they whipped up Pioneer Woman’s Best Sheet Cake Ever. wow. It was delicious. It MUST be served warm. period.

Today was a big family cookout with Chris’ side of the family and Annie’s family and we Greeked it up right with some delicious souvlaki, tzatziki and pita, and Greek oven potatoes. Here is Chris’ brother George, today’s grill master.

Aaron didn’t have a nap today and fell asleep on the counter while he was having some peach. Cute picture, right? :)

June 19

It’s Father’s Day! We tried to give Chris a very nice day. He had plenty of good food (yes, he grilled steaks for dinner, but if the guy wants steaks, I sure can’t do it!!) and lots of time to relax. Here we are working on a delicious breakfast of biscuits and sausage gravy. Boy am I glad he wanted that…I LOVE it, and we only have it a couple of times a year.

June 6

Today I was doing better and went to school. While I made dinner, Aaron worked nearby “cooking” something up.

Aaron LOVES chicken nachos! Well…who doesn’t??? We have them about once every two weeks. They are so easy to make, and everyone loves them. It’s a great go-to dinner on a school night and I load them with chicken, corn and black beans, so…they’re not a TOTAL nutritional waste.

Tonight we did the first grilling of the season! Hubby’s idea, so we got this four pack of AWESOMENESS at Costco and did it up!! My hubby is SO SO good at this. There is nothing like a steak by Cristo.

February 6

Today is Ashley’s birthday! We had a fun evening planned. Dinner at the Charbroil Grill, a Brazilian-style Steakhouse and then dessert fondue at home with the Super Bowl. We had a really nice evening and everything we ate was DEEEEElicious!
Shelby was sleeping when we got to the restaurant.

We had a white chocolate and a milk chocolate pot.
