October 13

This is a big day for us. Aaron has a very important MRI today. We found out in August that he has scoliosis (haven’t talked about it here at all until yesterday because there were a lot of things up in the air, but we know more now). One of the possible associated defects we have to rule out is whether or not his spinal cord is fused to his two curved vertebrae. Today’s MRI will reveal that to us. We spent most of the day at the hospital.

Aaron did an amazing job leading up to his sedation and the MRI went fine. He had a very hard time coming out of the sedation, and that was not fun for any of us at all. It was an exhausting day, physically and emotionally, we were up at 4 and were very worried about what the MRI might reveal. As always, the wonderful staff made the experience much more bearable and were absolutely spectacular with Aaron. We watched some of the miner rescue as Aaron was sleeping off his sedatives, and I remember thinking, this is an amazing story. I needed a miracle, and it was reassuring to know that good things were happening in the world. 029

Once we got home, Aaron continued to sleep, but every time he woke up he was irritable and very upset. Poor little guy. You can see that his eye is looking less swollen, but the black and blue is setting in now. That is a truly knocked out sleep. IMG_4445 IMG_4450
